We use an AO Spencer #1492 hemocytometer, with an ordinary compound
microscope and 10x objective. Immobilize the cells with a drop (per ml) of
iodine/alcohol solution. If you have access to a copy of _The
Chlamydomonas Sourcebook_, take a look at the diagram on page 34. This
shows what the grid looks like and which squares you should count.
