I am glad to inform you the new monography
prepared by Tatjana Vladimirovna Sedova KARYOLOGY OF
THE ALGAE (St.Petersburg,"NAUKA",1996), which includes
about 350 pp., many tables and figures.
The monography is the up-to-date summary on karyology of algae,
having no analogy in respect of the volume and profundity of the
material. In the summary a short characteristics of algae is provided,
algal structure organization, classification and phylogeny is described;
the special part is devoted to pecularities of the nucleus structure,
specificity of the mitosis and the karyotype; the appendix includes the
chromosome number list ( and is counted 1267 species names of 406
genera). The personal theoretical elaborations of the nuclei
classification principles, the mitosis systematization and regularities
in the mitosis types distribution among the algal divisions form the
basis of the monography.
