POSTDOC POSITION TO STUDY CHLAMYDOMONAS FLAGELLAR COMPONENTS

A postdoc position is available in the Department of Plant Science at
the University of Tasmania, Australia, to study the molecular cell
biology of the eukaryoye flagellum. The successful candidate will use
the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as a model
system. A number of motility mutants have already been generated by
insertional mutagenesis and these are ready to be investigated. These
mutants will be used to clone tagged genes with a view to understand
the role of the encoded protein products in flagellar function.
Applicants should have a PhD with strong molecular biology and/or
biochemistry skills. Starting date for this position is flexible but
ideally would be in March, 1997.

The Department of Plant Science is located at the Sandy Bay Campus of
the University of Tasmania, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Hobart
offers a wonderful lifestyle and affordable housing in a very pleasant
climate with all the usual advantages of a capital city.
