I am interested in leaf senescence, in particular in the breakdown
of thylakoid membranes during this process. Now, I wonder if
Chlamydomonas could be used as a model system to study chloroplast
degradation. Do Chlamydomonas cells degrade their chloroplasts at any
particular stage in their life cycle, or in response to ,e.g., N
deprivation, excess light, etc.
