POSTDOCTORAL POSITION TO STUDY THE MOLECULAR BIOLOGY OF THE CHLAMYDOMONAS
CONTRACTILE VACUOLE
A 2-3-year postdoctoral research position is available in the Department of
Biology, University of Miami, starting June 1, 1997, to study the molecular
components of the contractile vacuole cycle, which involves transport, fusion,
and other membrane processes. The goal is to isolate and characterize genes
controlling these processes. A number of Chlamydomonas "osm" (osmoregulatory)
mutants produced by UV and insertional mutagenesis are available for study.
Applicants with a recent Ph.D. should have experience in molecular genetics
techniques, preferably (although not necessarily) with Chlamydomonas. If
interested, please send an updated CV (including a statement of research
experience and interests), along with the names, addresses, e-mail addresses,
and telephone numbers of 3 people that could supply letters of recommendation.
