! Two PhD student positions
!
! at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, available! !
____________________________________________________________________
Molecular biological techniques will be used to work on certain problems
within the following topics:
* biodiversity of cyanobacteria involved in lichen symbiosis
* lateral transfer of group I introns among green algae, cyanobacteria
and ascomycetes in lichen partnerships
* correlations in the evolution of green algae and ascomycetes that are
involved in lichen partnerships
The two positions are for THREE YEARS and are fully funded within a
"DFG" (German Science Foundation) project entitled "Evolution and
functional aspects in lichen partnerships: molecular studies on green
algae, cyanobacteria and mycobionts". The salary is according to the
German "BAT 2a" (half time). The projects include the possibility for a
several months research visit at the University of Iowa, Iowa City
(USA). Experience with either molecular techniques (PCR, sequencing,
blotting) or in the field of organismal-focused research on
biodiversity, evolution and systematics are desirable, but not a
prerequisite.
