We wish you all a Happy New Year with the announcement of some excellent news:
Thanks to Dan Rokhsar and colleagues at the Joint Genome Institute of
the U.S. Department of Energy, we are anticipating completion of a
rough draft of the entire C. reinhardtii nuclear genome sequence at
6X-8X coverage by early summer 2002.
Pete Lefebvre has provided JGI with DNA for sequencing, and will be
submitting an application to NIH for additional funds to support the
sequencing and subsequent annotation.
