Postdoctoral position in molecular biology and biochemistry at
Imperial College London
A three-year position is available immediately to study how plants
protect themselves from the damaging effects of light (so-called
Photoinhibition). The project will focus on the role of cytochrome
b-559 in the chloroplast and will involve the construction and
analysis of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii mutants.
The project builds upon earlier studies [Morais et al. (1998) J.
Biol. Chem. 273, 29315-29320] and will involve working in a small
team. The successful candidate is expected to have some expertise in
molecular biology and/or biochemistry and to be highly motivated.
Training will be offered where necessary in molecular biology
techniques and the purification and characterisation of
membrane-bound protein complexes. Spectroscopic characterisation of
the mutants will be partly carried out on research visits to the
laboratory of Prof Charles Dismukes, Princeton University, USA.
Salary in the range =A318,909 - =A327,347 per annum including London Allowan=
