Dear Colleagues,

We are looking for a cell wall-deficient strain that gives a high rate of
nuclear transformation with cosmids, but one that transforms well with
plasmids will probably do. Also, the strain can't be spectinomycin
resistant, which, strangely enough, CC3395 (arg7-8 cwd) apparently is. Our
CC425 (arg 7-8 cw 15 mt+) strain is not growing all that well, and CC424
(arg 7-8 cw15 mt-) transforms with moderate efficiency. Thanks for any
offers or suggestions.

Sincerely,
David Herrin
