metabolite extraction

Dear all,
 
I´m trying to optimize the extraction of small metabolites from Chlamy cells grown in batch culture. Our aim is to make it as fast and complete as possible. So far, I´ve been testing different methanol/ water/ chloroform mixtures, but results have not been too satisfactory. I´d greatly appreciate any advice that people would like to share on extraction protocols that may perform well in other labs.
