Dear all,

does anybody know some reliable chloroplast inducible/repressible
promotor? I need a transient expression (minutes to max. 1-2 hours) of
helper plasmid genes. The helper plasmid harbours genes which are not
flanked by homologous sekvences to chloroplast chromosome and therefore
not incorporate by recombination and eventually are lost during subsequent
divisions. But the time to this loss is unfortunately long enough to cause
adverse effects of helper genes overexpression. Is there some system with
inducible/repressible promoter which enables shorter period of regulated
gene expression? For example light or heatshock inducible or some chemical
compound affected promoter system available in chlamydomonas chloroplasts?
Thank you very much for any answers, comments or at least reading this.
