I would recommend you took into the BioQUEST project. They are developing
a new paradigm in computer software based on the idea that:

science education needs to move beyond leariing an encyclopedic array
of facts about science to actually learning science
"
They have a hypercard demo of their suite of software (still in beta
testing).
