I would like to submit to the COMPUTATIONAL-BIOLOGY list the
following request, is it possible to do so ?
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am currently making a research on the use of computers
to visualize "invisible" objects hypothesized by scientific
theories (biology, physics, etc.).
I would appreciate if people of COMPUTATIONAL-BIOLOGY could
send me references regarding the following topics (I am not
a biologist -- I am studying in maths, CS and linguistics --
so I would prefer non-technical references if possible):
A) how the choice of a particular shape (or color, etc.) to represent
an object is being made ?
B) regarding to (A), does this choice is more or less isomorphic
to "actual" forms as exemplified by another instrument (e.g.
electronic microscope) or can it also be hypothesized or
idealized as a "simulation" of the model proposed by the theory?
C) does aesthetic criteria play an essential or a secondary role
in the making of these choices?
Answers can be send directly to me at: sr at info.uqam.ca
I will be glad to send to the list a summary of all the answers.
Thank you for all the help you may provide on this.
