---------- CALL FOR PAPERS ----------
On the initiative of the
"Association pour la Recherche Cognitive" (ARC)
*Cognitive Research Association*
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIRST CONFERENCE :
RESEARCH STUDENTS IN COGNITIVE SCIENCE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
organised by ARC and
IN COGNITO, cognitive science student association
(Grenoble, France)
LA MOTTE D'AVEILLANS (ISERE, FRANCE)
23, 24 AND 25 MARCH 1994
Cognitive science conferences and summer schools already exist
but, up until now, none have expressly given platform to student
researchers. This first conference is intended to bridge the gap and
offer young researchers a global view of this wide ranging area
while presenting their work to a larger audience. Entirely
organised by students, the occasion will encourage
communication between different disciplines such as biology,
artificial intelligence, linguistics, philosophy and psychology.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CALL FOR PAPERS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The themes proposed are deliberately broad in nature and the
attempt has been made to cover all areas of cognitive science.
These themes are as follows :
- learning and acquisition,
- meaning, language and communication,
- control, perception, decision and action,
- problem solving and reasoning.
Papers should be written in FRENCH by student researchers (not
having presented their Ph.D. before 1992) and should not exceed
ten pages (police 12). Two sections should be included : one
describing the research itself, and the other discussing its relation
to other areas of cognitive science (comparison of methods,
implications and questions raised for examination by other
disciplines). The first page should contain the title of the
communication, the name or names of the author(s), the abstract
and keywords.
Four copies should be sent by postal mail before the 1st October,
1993, to the following address :
Andree Tiberghien
Colloque Jeunes Chercheurs
CNRS - IRPEACS equipe COAST - ENSL
46, allee d'Italie - 69364 Lyon cedex 07
France
The approximate date of notification as to the acceptance or
otherwise of articles is the 15th November, 1993. Accepted
papers can be presented either orally or as a poster. Acceptance of
a paper constitutes an agreement by the author to present the
paper at the conference in person. The proceedings assembling all
presentations will be available at the conference (in the case of
poster communications, only the first page comprising the
abstract will be included).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Workshops
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As well as the presentation sessions, workshops will be formed
around the proposed themes. These could provide an opportunity
for the formation of more long term scientific collaboration.
