Dear list readers and helpers,
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I accessed the data set to
begin analyses of the study, and found the information on the male
family could not be determined from the data. A check of the
original data records and instructions revealed that the technicians
could have recorded the results arbitrarily. We have decided to
restrict attention to the magnitude of the diet effects and ignore
all information having to do with genetics. Your help has been very
much appreciated, and I am sorry that it has been for naught.
It may be small consolation, but the PI seems to be thoroughly
convinced of the need for planning, not just a study, but the
analyses needed before heading into the lab or the field.
Again, thank you very much for the assistance you gave me. If
there is anything I might do to return the favor, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Jerry
