               LEARNING CYCLIC CONTROL/BEHAVIOR IN ROBOTS
                                   at
                               ISORA '98
                                
                                
     The Seventh International Symposium on Robotics with Applications
            part of the World Automation Congress (WAC '98)
                           May 10-14, 1998
                        Anchorage, Alaska, USA


As part of the Seventh International Symposium on Robotics with
Applications, a special session is planned on learning cyclic control/
behavior in robots.  Facets of robot control require that a sequence of 
instructions be continually repeated to attain the desired behavior.  
The purpose of this session will be to examine alternate means of 
learning these cycles and their applications.  Learning methods can be 
(but are not limited to):

   Genetic Algorithms 
   Cyclic Genetic Algorithms
   Genetic Programming
   Evolutionary Strategies 
   Classifier Systems
   Evolutionary Programming
   Neural Networks
   Fuzzy Logic
   Probabilistic Reasoning

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the use of these 
methods to produce:

   Legged Robot Gaits
   Finite State Machine Controllers
   Multi-Sensor Monitoring Cycles
   Real-Time Robot Navigation
   Cyclic Behaviors in Multiple Robots
   Movement Cycles of Robot Manipulators
   Emergent Cyclic Behaviors of Multiple Agents


Interested researchers should send an abstract of up to 500 words via 
email or land mail to the address below by 15 April 1997.  Invited 
authors will have full papers published in the symposium proceedings.
