Dear Colleagues,

You are cordially invited to take part in the Third
International Conference on Intelligent Data Engineering
and Automated Learning (IDEAL 2002), to be held in
Manchester, UK, 12-14 August. The conference is organised
in collaboration with the IEEE and UK EPSRC, and is
becoming a major interdisciplinary event. This 3-day
forum will reveal the up-to-date developments in
Machine Learning and Data Engineering, and applications
in various interdisciplinary fields such as Finance,
Internet, Agents, and Bioinformatics. The Proceedings
are published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes
in Computer Science series.

There will be 89 quality presentations selected from
over 150 submissions, in addition to 3 distinguished
guest lectures by Micheal Dempster of Cambridge
University, David Jones of University College
London, and Ian Horrocks of Manchester University.

On-line registration is available. Please take advantage
of early low registration rates. Various social events
such as the Welcome Reception and Buffet, and Conference
Banquet are included in the fee, together with access to
