The new distance learning course, Introduction to Molecular Biology for Computer
Scientists, is designed to prepare those with a first degree in Computer Science for a
postgraduate qualification in Bioinformatics. It can be studied either as an individual
module, or as an element of the full MSc in Bioinformatics at the University of
Manchester, UK.
The MSc modules follow two themes, Bioinformatics and Computer Science. The
Bioinformatics modules are:
Introduction to Molecular Biology for Computer Scientists
Biological sequence analysis (Bioinformatics 1)
Microarray data analysis (Bioinformatics 2)
Theory and Applications in Bioinformatics
The computing modules are:
C for Bioinformatics
Java
Biocomputing
Object-oriented analysis and design with UML
