The distance learning course, Introduction to Molecular Biology for
Computer Scientists, will begin again in March 2005. This course is
designed to prepare those with a first degree in Computer Science for a
postgraduate qualification in Bioinformatics. It can be studied either
as an individual module, or as an element of the full MSc in
Bioinformatics at the University of Manchester, UK.
The MSc modules follow two themes, Bioinformatics and Computer Science.
The Bioinformatics modules are:
Introduction to Molecular Biology for Computer Scientists
Introduction to Bioinformatics
Introduction to Microarray Data Analysis
Theory and Applications in Bioinformatics
The Bioinformatics of Protein Structure
The Science of Proteomics
Molecular Modelling and Structure-based Drug Design
The computing modules are:
Introduction to programming (C or Java)
Intermediate Java
Biocomputing
Object-oriented analysis and design with UML
The module fee for 2004/2005 is £750. You will find further
