A postdoctoral position in biomolecular NMR will be available starting
Oct. 1, 2006 to study the structure and mechanism of neuronal calcium
sensor proteins using NMR and biophysical techniques. Current projects
include studies on retinal recoverin, a calcium sensor in vision as
well as neuronal homologs such as the DREAM protein, a transcriptional
repressor for pain modulation and a new sub-class of calcium binding
proteins (CaBPs) that regulate neuronal calcium channels. For more
information about specific research projects, see website:
http://www.chem.ucdavis.edu/people/ames.shtml and our recent
publications (PNAS (2006) 103:1159; Biochemistry (2006) 45:1702; J Biol
Chem (2005) 280:37461; J Biol Chem (2005) 280:18008; Biochemistry

Biochemistry 41:5776; Nature 389:198). Experience in protein structure
determination by NMR, protein biochemistry, biophysical chemistry and
molecular biology techniques is required.
