invites applications for a fulltime, tenure-track research and teaching
position at the Department of Knowledge-Based Mathematical Systems
(http://www.flll.jku.at/) available July 1, 2006. Appointees will be
expected to teach, pursue their research and perform department and
university service.
Required qualifications: PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics or Computer
Science, demonstrated achievements or potential for excellence in
research, teaching, and professional service.
It is expected that the successful appointee continues and complements
the department research in knowledge-based mathematical systems, in
particular fuzzy systems. Preference will be given to candidates doing
research in copulas and their applications in risk management or
aggregation in decision processes. Additional experience in data mining
(with particular emphasis on problems in bioinformatics, medicine) or
image and signal processing is welcome. Applications of female
candidates are particularly encouraged in case of equal qualification
they will be given preference.
The position will be filled initially for 6 years, after this period it
may be extended, depending on the qualifications of the appointee. For
