------------------------------------------------
             First Call for Papers

    The 14th International Conference on
DISCRETE GEOMETRY for COMPUTER IMAGERY (DGCI 08)

            April 16th - 18th 2008
                Lyon, France
         http://liris.cnrs.fr/dgci2008
------------------------------------------------

The aim of the DGCI conference is to gather researchers in discrete
geometry and topology, and discrete models, with applications in image
analysis and image synthesis.

Discrete geometry plays an expanding role in the fields of shape
modelling, image synthesis, and image analysis. It deals with
topological and geometrical definitions of digitized objects or
digitized images and provides both a theoretical and computational
framework for computer imaging.

This edition of DGCI follows the successful 2006 edition held in
Szeged, Hungary. DGCI 2008 is organized by the Multiresolution,
Discrete and Combinatorial Models Team (M2Disco, Laboratoire LIRIS) of
the University of Lyon.

The main topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  - Models for Discrete Geometry (grids, discrete objects, discrete
  model properties, digitization schemes, metrics,...)
  - Discrete and Combinatorial Topology
  - Geometric Transforms (image mappings, distance transformation,
  skeletons and medial axis,...)
  - Discrete Shape Representation, Recognition and Analysis
  - Discrete Tomography
  - Morphological Analysis
  - Discrete Modelling and Visualization
  - Discrete and Combinatorial Tools for Image Segmentation and
  Analysis

The proceedings of the conference will be published by Springer Verlag
in Lecture Notes in Computer Science series (upon Springer approval).
Submissions must be in electronic form (PDF or PS) and should be
uploaded through the DGCI 2008 Web site. A precise guideline will be
published soon on the DGCI 2008 web site. Submissions will be
peer-reviewed by at least 2 qualified reviewers. Selection criteria
will include: relevance, significance, impact, originality, technical
soundness, and quality of presentation.
