Molecular biologists/bioinformaticians are searched for a 3 years
scholarship for a doctoral course in the curriculum Life Sciences and
Public Health (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology) at
the School of Advanced Studies, University of Camerino
(http://www.unicam.it), Italy.
It is required experience in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics,
Programming (better if with Java and Perl), Relational Databases
(better if with MySQL), Linux systems administration, and
Genomics/Transcriptomics, DNA/RNA microarray/microchip.
Previous experiences in microbial biotechnology, with Next Generation
Sequencing platforms and research on diatoms will be highly
appreciated.
The project aims to design a universal microarray chip for the
high-throughput detection in water of known and emerging pathogens
(bacteria, viruses, protozoa and cyanobacteria) and to assess the
water quality monitoring the presence of select bioindicators (i.e.
diatoms). Genomics and transcriptomics analyses will be performed on
DNA/mRNA sequences of diatoms.
