With the development of the National Biodiversity Network (NBN) I see a
future for experimentation with
the collecting of biological data to enter into Local Record Centre
databases via the Internet. An experiment is currently under way at 2
sites in Cheshire to obtain biological data from forms on web-sites.

One of these is at the Cheshire Wildlife Trust site at:
http://www.wildlifetrust.org.uk/cheshire/
and the other is at the Warrington Nature Conservation Forum site at:
http://www.consult-eco.ndirect.co.uk/wncf/

The Wildlife Trust's site allows details of any observation of any
species to be sent in, whereas, the Warrington Nature Conservation Forum
site has specific species which are being surveyed (e.g. bluebell,
frog-spawn, etc.).

If you have any records for the North West or for the Warrington Borough
we would be glad to receive them both to aid Warrington in their green
decision making and also for inclusion within the developing Local
Record Centre in the Cheshire Region (inc. Merseyside).

Do please check out the sites and let me know what you think/feel - all
suggestions and brickbats gratefully received; and even more gratefully
received if you can supply any biological records. Many thanks.

Cheers.

Steve.
P.S.: Although the sig below is from a consultancy all the biological
data work is done voluntarily by myself for the above mentioned
organisations.
