bioluminescence in deep sea

Hi there,
Does anyone know if bioluminescence can be inhibited or excited by, e.g., ultrasonic/infrasonic waves, or if the animals responsible for biolum. (especially in deep sea) can be "repelled" by specific (non-polluting and non-lethal) products ?
Thanks for any ideas...
-I am no deep sea biologists, but a particle physicist, for whom bioluminescence is no more than a "backgroudn light", but which can be very annoying...-
Cheers...
