I am working on a way to more easily identify fungi in skin or mucosal scrapings. I am looking for a cell wall stain. It must be stable in alkali (it will be mixed in a KOH and DMSO solution) and not have a particular affinity for keratin or other protein. Any ideas? Thanks Greg Barron, M.D.
