At the San Diego Fly meeting detailed protocols for the preservation of
Drosophila by freezing were made available by both the Oak Ridge and Cornell
groups. 

Procedure for the permeablization and cryobiological preservation of
Drosophila embryos by K.W. Cole, P. D. Schreuders, A.P. Mahowald and Peter
Mazur. Contact Peter Mazur Biology Division, Oak Ridge National laboratory,
PO Box 2009, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-8077, USA.

A procedure for the cryopreservation of Drosophila melanogaster embryos by
Peter L. Steponkus and Shannon Caldwell. Contact Peter L. Steponkus,
Department of Soil, Crop and Atmospheric Sciences, Cornell University,
609 Bradfield Hall, Ithica, NY 14853, USA.

If you experiment with these methods it would be of great benefit if the
results could be posted to bionet.drosophila.
