The revised list of Drosophila clones described in the literature, complete
up to 4/29/93, has been mounted on Flybase at IUBio Gopher under the name
clonelist in the Clones directory.

This file, organized by chromosome location, summarizes references in three
data sets. One set is the description of cloned regions. A second set is
the properties of clones, and the third set covers transformed inserts.
Together there are about 4950 listings, with each one represented by a line
with five fields delimited by " and " marks. Starting from the left, the
fields are 1) chromosome location, 2) name of the clone, gene,
rearrangement, or transposon, 3) a key guide to the content of the
reference, 4) the size of the clone in kb, and 5) a minireference.

A second file mounted on Flybase, called clonelist-key, gives the title,
authorship, and date of this clonelist, and briefly states the key to the
different data sets and the kinds of molecular information described in
each reference. More extensive descriptions of the key meanings are
included in the file clones.doc.

We will update the list on a periodic basis. Suggestions please to
JMERRIAM at cognet.UCLA.edu.
