How many Drosophilists?

Hi Jeff,

    Well, for a start, the Drosophila researcher list on FlyBase
(available using gopher or ftp to ftp.bio.indiana.edu) includes
3175 people with mailing addresses in the USA.  We know there are
Drosophila researchers not in the list, also that some of the listings
have only email addresses and no regular mail addresses, so the real
number is likely to be higher.
