The Bloomington Stock Center is implementing a cost-recovery
program at the request of our funding agencies. Although the
program is to some extent voluntary, it will involve one major
change for every user of the center. Beginning January 1, 1995,
every stock request must be accompanied by a Bloomington User
Number (BUN) that has been assigned to your research group by the
stock center. Heads of laboratories can request a BUN by
providing us with a list of authorized users in their group.
Students/post-docs/technicians/associates are at the mercy of
lab-heads/PIs/advisors/mentors for their BUN. Most of you in the
latter group have or will receive within the next few days a letter
describing the program and telling you what you have to do next.
However, we will no doubt have missed some of you. If you are
the head of a laboratory and do not receive the mailing by
December 5, please contact us (preferably by e-mail) for a copy.
If you are in the student et al. category, remind the head of
your group that you will not be able to order stocks from the
center after 11am December 15, 1994 (the last weekly order deadline
for 1994) until he/she has registered your group and been assigned
a BUN.
