In Japan, triethylamine is widely used for an anesthetic of Drosophila
instead of ether. It is particularly suitable for use in the class
room because of its prolonged effect.

Reference: Fuyama, Y. (1977) "Triethylamine: an anesthetic for
Drosophila with prolonged effect." DIS 52: 173.
