Lack of D. simulans in nature

In the last few years we have noticed that is is difficult to collect D.
simulans from nature in the Ohio area (fruit stands, banana traps, etc.).
In the past, especially in the early fall, we could always get this
species.  In most of our collections we only get D. melanogaster males
orjust  a few D. simulans males.  Has anyone had this problem?  Thanks, Ron
