Re: alternative mounting medium for Hoyer's.

Dear Alan,
I have used Ed Lewis' formula for mounting embryonic or larval cuticles
(Nature 276:565-570 (1978)).  It is very simple (9 parts 85% lactic acid, 1
part 95% ethanol) and gives adequate clearing to see all cuticular
structures after incubating on a 50 degC slide warmer for 12-24 hr.
