Hello To Drosophiliacs

I'm a high school student at Woodberry Forest School, in rural Virginia.
 
Our Sophomore/Freshman combo class is studying Flies, particularly gene 
crosses for single traits.  (i.e. apterous, eye color, wing shape)  I 
would like to know if there's any simple (to you) experiments we can do 
extracurricularly, or anything special I should notice while I do my 
research.
