You're brave to ask, and I don't want to discourage you, but this is,
indeed, a newsgroup of people who are pretty deep into Drosophila
biology. Your questions should be addressed, in the first instance, to
the instructor of your genetics course, who can undoubtedly give you
access to lots of information appropriate to the course. She or he can
help you formulate a good question, as well as answering it or directing
you to resources. Perhaps, with your instructor's guidance, you would
find Flybase of some use (if you have access to World Wide Web; it's at
the URL: http://morgan.harvard.edu/ ).
