Immuno on embryos

I have been doing immuno on late stage embryos using Vectastain and
DAB/Ni2+.  My no primery/no secondary control is giving me horrible
background (as is everything else!).  Do people find it necessary to
preabsorb the vectastain reagent or am I just not blocking sufficiently?

Any help would be appreciated.
