Regarding protocols for preping Drosophila genomic DNA, there is one that I've used successfully for years. It's listed in the Materials & Methods of a 1983 paper by McGinnis and Beckendorf in Nucleic Acids Research Vol. 11, pgs. 737-751. It's never failed me and it's rather easy to do. Kathleen Gajewski
