How do I kill these buggers?

Sorry if this is trivial, but how do I put an end to a fruit fly
invasion? I seriously doubt this is a deadly drosophila infestation --
this is more of the household variety -- but they're driving me nuts.
My place is spotless and there's no food around for them to feed on.
