mitotic chromosomes of larval brain

Greetings all,

Can anybody recommend a method to stain mitotic chromosomes of  larval
brains ?
I want to visualize the metaphase plates after Colchicine-Treatment to
look for chromosomal abnormalities.
My efforts so far has led to no big success, but it should be a routine
karyotypic method.
