MOLECULAR AND GENETIC ANALYSIS OF CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS IN DROSOPHILA
MELANOGASTER

1 Ph.D. (starting July 1. 2000) and 1 Postdoctoral position (starting
Oct. 1. 2000) at the University of (historical) Regensburg available. My
lab focuses on light-entrainment pathways into the circadian clock and
on the isolation of rhythmically expressed genes with a possible
function in clock output pathways. Techniques involved in current
projects are in vivo measurements of rhythmic gene expression using the
"live fly" luciferase assay, RNase Protection assays, Immuno-blotting
and -histochemistry, as well as analysis of rhythmic locomotor behavior
and eclosion. The postdoctoral position will be part of the
multi-faculty program (DFG funded):

"SENSORIC PHOTORECEPTORS IN NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL SYSTEMS"

which allows interaction with other chemists, physicists, and other
biologists working on different aspects of photoreception at the Univ.
of Regensburg.
