Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Developmental Genetics

Department of Biological Sciences

The Department of Biological Sciences is a broad-based department in the
Faculty of Science, actively involved in a wide range of research and
teaching, with research activities concentrated in the areas of
Developmental Genetics, Ecology and Conservation Biology. 

Applications are invited for a Lecturer level B/C position. Applicants
with expertise in invertebrate genetics are particularly encouraged, but
those with expertise in other areas of developmental genetics are also
welcomed. Familiarity with functional genomics would be an advantage.

The appointee will be required to establish a research program in
developmental genetics, teach undergraduate genetics and contribute to
the development of new graduate-level subjects. 

Applicants must possess a PhD in molecular genetics or a closely related
area and a successful record of postdoctoral research, and peer-reviewed
publications. Tertiary teaching experience is highly desirable. The
ability to attract external research funds, develop links with industry
and/or government agencies and excellent communications skills are
essential.

Appointment will be made at a level appropriate to the successful
applicant's qualifications and experience and in accordance with
classification standards. Appointment to commence in January 2001.

Salary: Level B $49,366 - $58,623 p a; Level C $60,474 - $69,730 p a (3%
increase from 1/1/2001)
