Sci-Mart fly bottles

Dear Colleagues,

We recently started using Sci-Mart #DR-103 polyethylene bottles
(purchased February, 2001) for growing flies. The cultures look fine
until the pupal stage, but only a small proportion (10-20%) actually
eclose. Flies reared in Applied Scientific polyethylene bottles at
the same time (and on the same food) were fine.

Has anyone else had this experience with Sci-Mart bottles? Please
contact me if you have had a similar problem.

Thanks,

Paul Hardin
