Irradiated chromosome stocks available until January 2001

Dear colleagues--

As part of our effort to improve chromosomal deletion coverage of the 
Drosophila genome, we have irradiated P element-bearing chromosomes and 
screened for loss of the P element visible marker (usually loss of 
mini-white expression following irradiation of P{lacW}insertion 
chromosomes). We have listed below some irradiated chromosomes that have 
lost P element marker expression, but do not have large deletions of the 
sort we are interested in. Since these uncharacterized chromosomes may have 
small aberrations useful to people interested in the chromosomal regions of 
the P insertions, we are making them available to anyone who wants them. We 
will discard the stocks on January 1, 2002.

Cytological position: 83A5-6
Irradiated chromosome fails to complement: P{lacW}ksr[j5E2] (original 
P-bearing chromosome) and Df(3R)3-4
Irradiated chromosome complements: P{PZ}snr1[01319] and P{PZ}l(3)03644[03644]
Additional information: Polytene chromosome squashes show inversion 
82F2-83B7;3Lhet.

Irradiated P element insertion: P{lacW}Mad[k00237]
Gene disrupted by P insertion: Mothers against dpp, transcription factor
Cytological position: 23D3-4
Irradiated chromosome fails to complement: P{lacW}Mad[k00237] (original 
P-bearing chromosome), Df(2L)JS17 and Df(2L)S2590
Irradiated chromosome complements: P{PZ}toc[01361], Pdsw[k10101] and Df(2L)C144
Additional information: We have 5 independent lines with the same 
complementation pattern.
