2 POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN SWEDEN STARTING FEB. 2003
2 Postdoctoral positions for 2 years starting as of Feb. 2003 in the lab
of Stefan Baumgartner, Lund University, Sweden. Research topic is a
genetic screen aimed at the isolation of novel tumor suppressor loci in
Drosophila using piggyBac. The neighboring Häcker lab has recently
established a novel technique where a new non-P-element based germ line
transformation system was developed to allow insertional mutagenesis in
Drosophila. The system is based on the use of Hermes and piggyBac
transposable elements which carry the GFP coding region under the
control of an artificial Pax6 promoter as a dominant marker to allow
detection of the transposons in the genome.
Applicants should have a thorough education in genetics, preferably
having working experience with Drosophila. The Baumgartner lab is one
of two Drosophila labs at Lund University, and has excellent
facilities. Most researchers are foreigners which creates a lively
atmosphere. Lund University is located opposite Copenhagen on the
Swedish side and represents the biggest University in whole Scandinavia.
