The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences at the James Cook
University is seeking energetic individuals to fill the following positions at
our Townsville, North Queensland Campus:
POSTDOCTORAL SCIENTISTS COMPARATIVE GENOMICS CENTRE (3 positions)
DROSOPHILLA GENETICS GROUP Ref No: 2192
The Drosophila Genetics Group within the Centre is seeking a qualified
postdoctoral scientist to conduct cellular, molecular and genetic studies into
the origins of aneuploidy and chromosome mis-segregation. Prior experience in
Drosophila genetics or cell biology will be highly regarded. Outstanding
written and verbal communication skills are essential

Employment Type: The position is funded by an external grant for two years,
with the possibility of renewal.
AUTOIMMUNITY RESEARCH GROUP Ref No: 2190
The appointee will join the Autoimmunity Research Group within the Centre to
study the immunogenetics of NKT cells, an immunoregulatory lymphocyte
population, which modulates susceptibility to cancers, infections and
autoimmune disease. Experience with recombinant DNA technology, a reasonable
publication record and good organisation and communication skills are

Employment Type: The position is funded by an NHRMC grant for three years, with
the possibility of renewal
BIOCHEMIC AND GENETIC CHARACTERISATION Ref No: 2191
The appointee will join the Coral Genome Group within the Centre. The primary
focus of the position will be biochemical and genetic characterisation of genes
likely to be involved in neural specification and patterning of primitive
animals, with the aim of better understanding their origins in mammals and
flies. Prior experience in the developmental genetics of any eukaryotic model
organism or in vitro transcription factor analysis would be advantageous.
