POSITION TITLE: Postdoctoral Fellow
INSTITUTION: University of Notre Dame
LOCATION: South Bend, IN
REQUIREMENTS:	A Ph.D. degree and experience in molecular genetics is
required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Post-doctoral fellowships are available in the
laboratory of Dr. Joseph O’Tousa, at the University of Notre Dame. Two
areas of vision research are supported within his laboratory. The first
concerns the molecular components required for intracellular transport
of rhodopsin and other photoreceptor proteins. The second project
concerns cell death processes, and potential to inhibit such processes,
occurring in mutant photoreceptors. Both projects use the Drosophila
model and seek knowledge pertinent to inherited human retinal
degeneration syndromes. Experience with Drosophila genetics and
molecular biology, microscopic methodologies for documenting
intracellular location of proteins, and use of the yeast two-hybrid
system are beneficial. Post-doctoral are expected to work on independent
and collaborative research activities of the laboratory, and also
participate in grant writing, and publication of research findings.
Additional information on research in the O’Tousa laboratory is
available online at
