November 2004:
Drosophila melanogaster genome annotation release 4.0
Drosophila pseudoobscura genome annotation release 1.0

are available now from FlyBase at http://flybase.net/annot/
and ftp://flybase.net/genomes/Drosophila_melanogaster/current/
and ftp://flybase.net/genomes/Drosophila_pseudoobscura/current/

This Dmel release 4 includes 1.5 Mb of new euchromatin sequence over
release 3, for 118.35 Mb of euchromatin and 14.2 Mb of
heterochromatin. There are 13,472 genes along with a total of 1,330,192
curated, matched and computed features.

This Dpse genome release has 141 Mb of dna distributed among
2 fully assembled chromosome arms and 14 ultracontig units of 4 other
chromosome arms. It includes 12,197 predicted genes
with orthologous matches to Dmel genes, and 228,876 total features.

Find these species genomes using updated BLAST searches and GBrowse
genome maps in the Annotation and Sequence section of FlyBase, including
pointers to FastA sequence, GFF features, and other bulk file releases.
