Postdoctoral Position in Drosophila Aging
A postdoctoral position, funded by an NIH grant, is available immediately for a minimal period of 2 years to study the molecular basis of aging in Drosophila. The emphasis of the project is on the role of oxidative stress, specifically the reactive electrophilic products of lipid peroxidation, on the accumulation of macromolecular damage and loss of homeostasis that manifests itself as organismal aging. The successful candidate should have experience in a wide range of molecular techniques. Gene transfer in Drosophila, genetic crosses, life span studies, and biochemical techniques (western and Southern blotting, PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, enzyme assays etc.) are among the methods to be used in the project. Salary for this position will range from $28,000 to $35,000, but is negotiable depending on training and experience.
