A post-doctoral position is available at the Channing Laboratory
(Brigham & Women's Hospital) in Boston
Our primary laboratory interest is to identify host factors that
interact with bacterial virulence determinants and thereby influence
host susceptibility to infection. This full-time position is open to
a research fellow who will continue work toward developing and using
a model of bacterial infection in D. melanogaster.
The ideal candidate would be highly motivated and have experience in
the study of Drosophila, including a strong background in fly
genetics, as well as experience in RNA interference, microarray
analysis studies, and basic skills in manipulating and studying
nucleic acids (DNA cloning, gel electrophoresis, PCR,
Northern/Southern blotting, real-time PCR, rt-PCR, etc) and proteins
(purification, quantification, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, etc).
Additional skills in cell culture, microscopy, flow cytometry, and
data analysis (including biostatistics and use of bioinformatics) are
highly desirable. Excellent communication and organizational skills,
attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative
environment are required.
Applicants must possess current legal authorization to work in the
Doctoral Degree Required (MD and/or PhD)
