Fly facility manager position available at the Champalimaud Foundation
Neuroscience Programme, Lisbon, Portugal

Do you want to play a pivotal role in the research life of people? Do
you want to participate in building up a new international institute
at the waterfront of the beautiful and sunny city of Lisbon, Portugal?
Then this might be something for you!

Your tasks:

We are looking for a long term fly facility manager to run a state of
the art fruit fly facility. You would lead a team who will be
supporting the Drosophila groups of the Champalimaud Foundation
Neuroscience Programme (CNP) in their research. This will include
consulting and supporting the scientists of the institute in applying
advanced genetic methods like gene targeting, BAC recombineering, site
specific transgenics as well as genetic screens. Furthermore you will
be testing, establishing and developing new techniques for Drosophila
neuroscience research. Finally you and your team will be responsible
for the general Drosophila infrastructure including the maintenance of
fly collections, the environmental chambers, behaviour rooms and for
the production of fly media.

Your qualifications:

You have a PhD and experience in Drosophila genetics, ideally in the
field of neurosciences. You are very good at interacting with people
and enjoy supporting them in their research. You are a scientifically
curious person who enjoys exploring new techniques and helping people
to advance their research by implementing them. You are able to lead a
team and organize the technical and administrative tasks of running a
scientific facility. Good English skills are essential.
